In a place like Santa Fe that is a huge art community yet lacks in design opportunities. Many young design students first thought on the matter is where are my internship opportunities? Well fear not sophomores and possibly freshmen, here is a list of possible internship’s right here.
Radius Books in Santa Fe, NM is looking for interns to assist with a wide-range of activities. The Radius Books internship program was designed to help students and young adults pursuing a career in publishing, business, art & photography, & graphic design to receive additional training and experience in their field of study in an actual working environment. They offer both summer and fall opportunities and I highly recommend Radius as a local internship for someone looking for their start in book design.
SITE’s Internship Program provides interns with meaningful opportunities in a working environment within a contemporary art museum. Interns are accepted into specific departments but are allowed and encouraged to expand on their experiences at SITE by working in other areas of museum operations. Be warned this is an un-paid internship when you first start out. But like any other pyramid scheme, if you prove yourself worthy it can lead to payment. This internship works as a great resume filler.
Santa Fe Reporter is always seeking interns in various departments. Internships at the Reporter are a proven method to learning about journalism, photojournalism, news and culture reporting, web development and social media management. The Reporter would be a great fit for any designer wishing to expand into journalism, editorial or web development.
